Why Designers Use Avenir Font for Web & Mobile Design

Avenir is a French term meaning future. This is a typeface that was created in 1987 by Adrian Frutiger and released by Linotype GmbH in 1988. It was released with only three weights and all had an oblique version and a roman version.

In between 2004 and 2007, avenir was created through reworking the avenir family. Avenir font came in six weights in two widths and 24 fonts. For the typography of a web design to be on top, a designer has to go for the best typeface so that the intended message is perfectly conveyed.

It is good to put into consideration some factors so that you are able to bring out the best appearance than ever before and also to make your work much easier. Here are some factors that you should not overlook when creating a web or a mobile design.

Creativity of a Design

A good visitor experience is the number one ultimate goal of a website owner. As a designer, you do not want to fail your client by giving poor quality work. This is why you have to go for the best fonts from the best families in order for that web design to stand out in all your work.

Every design you create every day should be aimed at surpassing what you created yesterday. Avenir is versatile and can complement with any other font you decide to go with and that is what makes it the best font and the most used by web designers.

They do not have to go searching for which is compatible and what can look elegant. You do not have to eliminate a client’s favorite font simply because it cannot rhyme with the avenir.

Performance & Speed

There are thousands of fonts available on the web that can be used in designs, but each font is not as lightweight as avenir. You must have to know that avenir font family is available to download free for creating unique designs and the best b part is its size. Avenir offers the best performance despite the fact that it is only 98KB in size.

It might be small but it creates different weights. You will find other fonts in your design that are small in size but are not able to support more than one weight.

The Avenir font supports the three weights and does a good job without having to complicate or change anything and will give a very creative and unique look to your web or mobile designs.

Sizes of Different Fonts

Every font has a different size despite how insignificant it may seem. The size difference comes from the different widths of individual characters and different space between two characters. This will make a word appear longer or shorter than the other one.

It is important to consider the size of the fonts when you are creating a website that is optimized for mobile. Some fonts are not appropriate for mobile design even though they are suitable for computers. Avenir font offers a good size both for computer and mobile.

With avenir family, you do not need to worry about its incompatibility with mobile, it is very convenient. Alternating the different font sizes for the headings and the body can create an appealing look for your website, but still you have to be careful not to use very large fonts for mobile designs.

Supporting Currency Symbol

Not all fonts support currency symbols for all that there is. However, most of them will support the dollar and pound symbols because these are popular symbols.

Avenir may not support some symbols but avenir next can support them. This is a good thing to get different characteristics from the same family.

Importance of Fonts Design

Some fonts are plain will others have a double story design. Whichever the design you choose to go with, it depends with your message and target audience. Some may think that it is strenuous to read a text written in double story design while others may think that the plain fonts are so boring and are meant for the old people.

Well, it depends with your audience. Know what they think is best and try to meet their preference.

Do Not Be Egocentric

As a designer, you shouldknow that it is your responsibility to offer clients good services not attached to how you feel. Let the client tell you their preferences and then give them an advice without making a decision for them.

Avenir font could be your favorite, but is that what your client would like? Take a client through the fonts that are suitable not only for web but also for mobile design. With each one of them give the advantages and disadvantages and then give him/her enough time to make a decision.

“Using avenir is interesting because it is versatile. Here are some ways in which avenir is used.”

It is fit for headlines and also body text. You can use avenir font for your body text or for your heading, it is suitable for either. But to make the text more compelling, use a different font for the heading if you are going with avenir for the body or the other way around.

It complements the modern designs. Days have gone and new generations have been born who want new and different things not only in fashion but also in web designing.

Sticking to the same old fonts as forty and fifty years ago does not match who we are today. Designers are more creative and they need new fonts to make unique and mind-blowing designs. Avenir gives you a feeling of class and stylishness as you put it down.

Conclusion

Being a web designer means being creative and being able to play around with various fonts. Creating new designs which are usable in mobile is not as easy task nor is it a complicated one.

Understand the different fonts and their uses and this will be a guiding factor in your creation. Various companies and institutions have adopted the avenir font and its use over the past few years has increased significantly. An example of an institution using avenir is the Co-operative Group.
